Gaming Music

Much of the music here are for games that I enjoy.

BATTLETECH

Battletech, the game of armored combat. Below are songs about the different factions to be found in the game. Think of them as Propaganda Anthems for each group, with each song attempting to show their best qualities.

Light of the Suns
00:00 / 05:03

Theme song for House Davion

House Davion is the tonal center of the Inner Sphere. If Steiner is guardian and Kurita is fate then Davion is heroism. The Federated Suns believes deeply in duty with optimism, individual courage, noble leadership that fights beside its people, military professionalism without cruelty: “We fight because we must — and we will win”

Their theme feels like the audience finally got the protagonists.

The Dragon's Shadow
00:00 / 05:12

Theme song for House Kurita

House Kurita should feel like the opposite philosophy of Steiner. Where Steiner is protective civilization and industrial might, Kurita is inevitability, discipline, and fear.

The Draconis Combine is not a “nation” — it is a warrior society.
Their music feels ritualistic, controlled emotion, spiritual + militaristic, elegant but terrifying, inspired by gagaku / taiko / court music. Victory sounds like fate fulfilled, not celebration

Forged in Iron Crowned in Steel
00:00 / 04:54

Theme song for House Steiner

The Lyran Commonwealth (House Steiner) has a very distinct identity in BattleTech: wealthy, industrial, aristocratic, proud… and occasionally mocked for “social generals,” yet terrifying once its industrial war machine truly mobilizes.
Their music feels noble and imperial, industrial and heavy, defensive and protective with slightly Germanic/Austro-Prussian flavor.

The People’s Embrace
00:00 / 05:08

Theme song for House Liao

House Liao is not about honor (Kurita), heroism (Davion), or wealth (Steiner).
The Capellan Confederation is about loyalty, survival, and belief. To outsiders they look oppressive, to citizens they feel protective. Their identity is intimate, persuasive, almost gentle, patriotic and ideological, sometimes beautiful… sometimes unsettling. The music feels like a national hymn sung by citizens. A quiet propaganda broadcast.

Many Worlds, One Banner
00:00 / 04:43

Theme song for House Marik

House Marik is the most politically unique of the Great Houses. Where the others are unified cultures, the Free Worlds League is a coalition. Not one identity — many identities choosing to remain together.

So their theme sounds like multiple musical traditions agreeing on a shared anthem.

Several musical styles woven together; heroic republic, frontier and operatic.

Blessed Be the Circuit
00:00 / 04:27

Theme song for Comstar

The Great Houses sing about nations. ComStar sings about Truth. They are not merely a faction — they are a quasi-religion, a communications monopoly, secret guardians of lost technology and a quiet manipulators of history.

Their music feels comforting at first… then subtly unsettling. You feel safe — and watched. No overt militarism. No heroism. Just inevitability wrapped in serenity.

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS

Even if you never played D&D you have at least heard of it. These songs are from campaigns that I have run (and are still running) to give a bit of flavor to my game.

The Lords of Wynter
00:00 / 04:42

The Lords of Wynter

The official theme song of my current D&D campaign. This game is based in a land of barbarians where strength is highly regarded. Remember though, while barbarians may not be well educated, this does not mean they are stupid.

Lost City of the Pixies
00:00 / 03:25

The Lost City of the Pixies

As an underlying theme for my Tales of the Broken Wand campaign, the song tells of a time long ago. Whether it is history or myth has not yet been determined but our bard, Randle Popkin, sings it well.

The Seven Knights of Elorian
00:00 / 03:59

The Seven Knights of Elorian

Another song sung by our bard he was travelling with our group of hardy adventurers. Where Randle learned this song is unknown for it came from a kingdom on the far side of a major mauntain chain.

The Unseelie Queen's Warning
00:00 / 02:16

The Unseelie Queen's Warning

This song was actually a scene from my game where the adventurers found themselves in the Unseelie Fae Court. The queen, Meredith, explains the rules of the upcoming Wild Hunt, and warns them to keep out of sight or be possible prey on that night.
